Nugenix Free Testosterone Booster Review

Nugenix GNCNugenix Free Testosterone Booster is a capsule / pill supplement which the company, Nugenix, describes exactly as it reads on the packaging: A free testosterone booster.

Hey! Does this mean it’s a testosterone booster we don’t have to pay for?

Unfortunately, no.

“Free” in this context refers to testosterone which is in free form, i.e. that which is circulating in the blood stream, and not that which is bound to the two common binding proteins: albumin and SHBG – Sex Hormone Binding Globulin.

Albumin-bound testosterone and free testosterone are both bio-available, whereas SHBG-testosterone is locked up and unusable.

Hence, health problems related to low testosterone levels occur particularly when free testosterone is low.

After all, testosterone as we know is a vital hormone for optimal bodily function, growth and state of mind.

So that’s it really. The Nugenix formula is designed to boost free form testosterone levels in your body, so that more is available to function as the important hormone it is.

How Does Nugenix Free Testosterone Booster Work?

We’ve explained what the product is above, but how does it do its work?

Like most, capsule supplements, there is limited space in each pill to have a huge quantity of ingredients.

Therefore, most ingredients in these supplements are ‘trigger’ ingredients. Basically, they stimulate, or start a process in the body which eventually leads to the desired result.

In this case, testosterone production is the desired result.

The formula for ingredients it uses to do this is quite simple. In the next section we discuss those inclusions in a little more detail.

Ingredients

Nugenix Free Testosterone Nugenix have added a few support ingredients which help maintain a baseline level of overall health. The rationale here is that there is no point having supplemental ingredients without first ensuring the basic necessities are there.

Most companies do this.

Here are the support ingredients:

  • Vitamin B-6
  • Vitamin B-12

B Vitamins are known for being low in American diets and they are important for over 300 functions in the human body.

Next, Nugenix include the following to help boost testosterone levels:

  • Zinc – 1mg
  • Nugenix Free Testosterone Complex – 2103mg

As you can see the majority of the active ingredients are inside a proprietary blend called the Nugenix Free Tesosterone Complex.

We do not know the inclusion rates of each ingredient inside this blend but we do know the ingredients and the order of proportion within the blend.

So, the proportion of ingredients in the blend, in descending order are:

  1. L-Citrulline Malate
  2. Testofen (fenugreek seed extract – 50% fenusides)
  3. Tribulus (fruit)

Our Impressions of the Formula

Zinc. Firstly, we’re not sure what 1 mg of zinc is going to do for anyone. That is around 7% of the recommended daily allowance. Zinc is an excellent micronutrient for the optimization of Testosterone levels, but 1 mg won’t do a thing.

L-Citrulline Malate is generally used to increase Nitric Oxide levels in the blood. In this capacity it is a vasodilator; it increases the blood vessels’ diameter allowing for more blood to flow to active muscles. In turn, this supplies more oxygen to the muscles and various parts of the body.

As a strength and resistance training aid, L-Citrulline is excellent. Again, however, doses of 5000 mg and up are where it begins to be effective. The whole Nugenix Free Testosterone Complex only contains 2103mg total of the 3 ingredients.

Fenugreek has displayed some ability to increase libido and testosterone. It has been used in many testosterone products and while we would love to comment on the dosage used here, we just don’t know what it is.

Tribulus fruit extract is the final ingredient. There is a lot of empirical evidence offered by weight lifters and bodybuilders to suggest it may help offer a pseudo-testosterone boost (only libido enhancing rather than free testosterone increase).

impotenceUnfortunately again, with the lack of something more substantial in the formula, we can’t say that tribulus is anywhere near strong enough to redeem this product.

Long story short: The formula is weak, and for the money, there are several options which are far far superior.

Safety and Side Effects

There won’t be any side effects for average people. However, people taking medication or women who are pregnant / breastfeeding should take caution and stay clear of any supplements which have not been explicitly cleared by a doctor.

Customer Comments

The main product page for GNC has many comments from customers. Most seem to echo our own regarding the product’s lack of efficacy. Here’s a few quotes:

“…Ineffective for me (Blood test proof)…” – aymericmonello

“…completely ineffective product. I will go so far as to say it is an outright fraud…” – nuclearnews

“…I tried two bottles of Nugenix with no noticeable difference in sex drive, energy, or muscle. The only thing it boosted was the cost of two bottles of this stuff from my wallet….” – cleindian44

We’re sorry to say that similar comments go on for quite a while.

Our Recommendations for an Alternative

Prime Male Testosterone It’s quite clear we don’t have much faith in the Nugenix formula working to boost your free testosterone levels, but we have tested so many that we have a good objective view of the market.

If we recommend a product it is because we have used it and have obtained significant results from it.

Prime Male is currently at the top of our list of testosterone boosters. Take a look at our review and you’ll see the ingredients included are so much more impressive in dosage and efficacy.
