Lipocide by Evogen – Review

lipocideLipocide is a caffeine-based fat burning supplement produced in the US by Evogen. The company claims it is the world’s “most innovative metabolic accelerator” and states the capsules can help users to burn their body fat without losing muscle.

The man who founded Evogen, Hany Rambod, is a professional trainer who works with top US athletes so, like the rest of the company’s products, Lipocide is designed to support the nutritional needs of bodybuilders and other sports/fitness enthusiasts.

That said, there is no reason supplements designed for such a target customer base will not be just as useful for the average man or woman who is looking for a supplement to help them lose weight.

The three main benefits promised are:

  • Appetite control
  • Energy & focus
  • Rapid fat metabolism

What is Lipocide and How Does it Work?

Lipocide is designed to function as an all-around weight loss solution, but the primary focus appears to be fat burning and, if the formulation works in the described way, it should be especially useful for bodybuilders who are on a cut cycle.

The formulation is designed to provide a level of appetite suppression that is sufficient to help users to eat less food; sufficient to resist the urge to eat extra junk or comfort food, especially while cutting.

muscletronic bottleOf all the products in this class, Muscletronic is the standout cutting supplement by far. The ingredients are very powerful and work well with one another.

Muscletronic also has a nootropic effect which helps you stay focused and motivated, happy and full of vitality at the same time as stripping the fat.

It’s the perfect companion for a gym enthusiast that’s looking for a one-shot pill to cover three bases.

Key Ingredients & Blend Potential

Each capsule provides 200mg of caffeine and 528mg of a proprietary blend. The amount of caffeine provided is the equivalent to that contained in two cups of standard coffee; so it’s good for delivering some extra energy and focus.

Caffeine also has the ability to provide mild appetite suppression and speed up the metabolism. The value of the proprietary blend has no inclusion rates provided for individual ingredients.

The Metabolic Accelerating Matrix proprietary blend provides:

  • Acetyl L-carnitine HCL
  • Choline Bitartrate
  • N-acetyl L-tyrosine
  • Advantra-Z
  • Evodia rutaecarpa extract
  • Beta-phenylethylamine HCL
  • Capsimax
  • 5-Hydroxy Tryptophan
  • Velvet bean extract
  • N-Methyl Tyramine
  • Bioperine
  • Yohimbine HCL

Capsimax and Advantra-Z stand out as two fat burning ingredients. Capsimax is a proprietary blend that provides capsicum extract.

Capsimax may have more to offer than other capsicum-providers; it is a trademarked ingredient that can increase the speed of the metabolism and encourage fat burning even during periods of rest. Advantra Z provides the fruit extract citrus aurantium, which is rich in the fat burning stimulant synephrine.

Yohimbine and Evodia Rutaecarpa are also reputed to be fat burners. Several of the other inclusions (Acetyl L-Carnitine, Acetyl L-Tyrosine, Choline Bitartrate and Velvet Bean Extract) are popular nootropic ingredients that may help capsule users to retain their focus during gruelling training sessions.

Bioperine is a proprietary blend of black pepper extract that has probably been included because it has the ability to aid the absorption of other ingredients. Overall the blend looks good in theory, but how well it works in reality will be entirely dependent on the weights and ratios involved.

How to Take Lipocide: New users should begin by taking one capsule in the morning, on an empty stomach, 20-30 minutes before eating their first meal of the day (or shake).

If no side effects are experienced, a second capsule can be taken 7-8 hours later. No more than three capsules should be consumed in any 24 hour period and supplementation should be continued in a cycle of four weeks on followed by four weeks off.

Customer Feedback

Customer reviews are conflicting. Some people say the product worked well for them, others claim it did nothing at all.

A few average comments read:

“Very good product. It helped me to eat less food and burn more fat and there were no nasty side effects to contend with.”
“When will I ever learn. If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Lipocide didn’t help me to eat less, feel more energetic, burn fat or lose weight. All it did was disappoint.”
“Lipocide is meant to provide rapid fat metabolism and that is exactly what it does. Nuff said.”
“What a waste of time and what a waste of money too. These pills did not do a thing for me. I wish I’d tried something else instead.”

This is a classic spread when it comes to feedback. Fat burners, like any supplement, work for some and not for others. Whether people who write negative reviews are pulling their own weight in the fat fight – excuse the pun – is unknown!

Side Effects, Health Issues & Supplementary Information

doctor scientistA small print warning on the Evogen website states the capsules may contain ingredients that are banned by some sporting associations and points out users assume all risks, liabilities and consequences regarding testing.

Lipocide is also an unsuitable option for pregnant or nursing mothers and should only be used by healthy people who are aged 18-50.

All potential users are advised to seek medical advice prior to commencing supplementation and this is especially important for people who have existing health problems and anyone who is taking medication.

It is inadvisable to use Lipocide alongside alcohol, other stimulants, or sources of caffeine (including tea and coffee). Supplementation should be stopped two weeks prior to any scheduled surgery.

Regarding Yohimbine; it is our experience that the concerns regarding elevated anxiety in already anxiety pre-disposed people is fairly accurate. If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, perhaps do further research first.

If you’re ever in doubt, it’s a pain, but see your doctor for an opinion.

Purchasing Options & Considerations

A bottle of Lipocide contains 60 capsules and the RRP is $64.95, but customers who purchase via the Evogen online store are usually offered a discount and, at the time of this review, it was possible to purchase a bottle of Lipocide for $39.95. It is also possible to buy the pills from BodyBuilding.com but, with a price tag of $44.95, it’s not the cheapest way to go.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Muscletronic productLipocide contains some very effective ingredients. However, we aren’t fans of some the inclusions and we aren’t sure of the amount in the proprietary blend.

Therefore we tend not to take products like Lipocide for an extended period of time.

It also has an excellent mind/muscle element to it with the incorporation of some great nootropics in the formula.

Muscletronic is the product we recommend and rate the most.
