4 GAUGE has been developed by Roar Ambition as a pre-workout supplement formula for gym goers, weight lifters, bodybuilders, crossfitters and people into any other form of strength and resistance training.
Each order of 4 Gauge comes packaged in a container designed like a giant shotgun shell. A nice touch for a product which is formulated to help you get an explosive workout. “Load Up Your Guns” is the tagline. Fitting.
Roar Ambition throw down some hefty claims, as is usually made with these products.
The recipe looked great to us even before we placed our order. Delivery was fast, and free for the option we went for. We even got a 3rd tub half price!
We put 4 Gauge in the chamber and gave it a blast (sorry, the puns are strong with this one).
Benefits of 4 Gauge
The company describes many benefits of using their supplement. They are generally ways of saying the same thing as every other supplement company, with an emphasis on the following:
- Increased Power and Strength
- Vastly Improved Vasodilation (Muscular “Pump”)
- Sustained Energy During and After Workout
- Low Calorie, Natural Formula (5 calories)
- No Artificial Sweeteners
- Soy and Dairy-Free
How do these claims translate to our actual experience? We’ll get to that, but we should cover the ingredients briefly first.
Key Ingredients and What They Do
There are 8 active ingredients in 4 Gauge, and the company have put the inclusion rates right on the packaging. That leaves us with no guesswork, which we love.
Most companies put everything in proprietary blends which we can never fully critique. So….+1 for 4 Gauge so far.
L-Citrulline Malate (6000mg)
Excuse us for saying this but your eyes are NOT deceiving you. That says 6000 mg of Citrulline Malate.
So, that’s interesting on a couple of levels. Citrulline Malate is the Number 1 nitric oxide (NO) booster of all time in our opinion. An NO boost increases muscle vasodilation (they get pumped) and improves overall power output as well as explosive power output during intense physical exercise.
And…it can boost HGH production by over 50% during the workout spike. Not bad.
6000 mg is epic by the way. Scientifically proven. Did we say how much we liked Citrulline Malate?
Rhodiola Rosea (100mg)
If citrulline malate is the King of the Muscle Pump, then Rhodiola is its Queen. Stacks of motivation, a thoroughly positive mental attitude and a cognitive drive is how we’d describe this excellent herb’s effect on us.
You might call it ‘being in the zone’ or ‘feeling dialled in’ to your workout. Whatever you call it, this is what’s doing it for you in 4 Gauge.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine transports fat from cells to the mitochondria (little cellular engines) to be burned as fuel.
It heightens your aerobic output capacity and helps shed some blubber as it does so.
Red Beet Extract (300mg)
Eating a buck load of beets might get you somewhere close to the extract’s effects but you’d probably end up boffing red crap all over the gym and causing some alarm.
No need when you can have the useful extract and leave the rest for the ponies.
Red beets increase your NO production even more, facilitating mega muscle pumps. This makes you look massive in the gym, and helps you push harder. Each session adds to your overall size on a permanent basis.
Yes, getting swole can contribute to permanent swole…ness!
Creatine Monohydrate (1000mg)
No doubt you’re taking some extra creatine if you are a sensible person and you want the results from the gym. This just keeps you topped up with the most researched and proven ingredient on the planet.
Caffeine and L-Theanine Stack (150mg & 200mg)
On its own, the inclusion of caffeine is a bit meh. So what, right!…everything has caffeine in it.
Combine it with l-theanine, however, and you have an impressive nootropic stack.
Basically, the heightened focus you get from caffeine is amplified by l-theanine. Also, the theanine adds alpha-waves to the mix – the brain signals associated with feelings of well-being.
As a happy side effect, l-theanine takes the edge off the caffeine spike, helping to smooth out the boost it gives and keep it working for longer.
Coconut Water Powder
Electrolytes are essential for us to function, even more so when we are working out. They are the very reason muscles can fire on command…but we lose them when we sweat.
Most pre-workout manufacturers don’t bother putting any in their products, but this is where 4 Gauge has really impressed us and the company has gone the extra mile.
To stay hydrated and able to finish your intense workout, this powder should be in every workout supplement.
Side Effects and Safety
The effect of vasodilation can be quite pronounced in some people.
During your workout, your muscles may look particularly pumped and the veins on your arms may show more.
People using medication and women who are pregnant/breastfeeding should avoid using supplements of this type.
If you are concerned, consult your doctor before using it.
Purchasing and Shipping
4 Gauge is only available from the company website, to ensure customers are purchasing the genuine product.
In truth, this works out for the best because shipping is free if you buy a couple shotgun tubs and you even get a 3rd at half price.
Shipping is available to anywhere in the world, including the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and more.
Special offers are available at the moment, though prices might go up slightly after the offer is over.
Conclusion and Recommendations
4 Gauge is a quality product from a quality company. The ingredients have a great safety record and a LOT of scientific and empirical evidence to support them.
We have used several hundred pre-workout supplements in our time as athletes, trainers and reviewers and very few have given us the ‘pumped’ look and feel together with a mind-blowing positivity that 4 Gauge does.
When we saw the big shotgun shell packaging first, we couldn’t help but think the contents might be a bit gimmicky as well.
How wrong we were. This is a fantastic product and well deserving of the praise it gets.
We absolutely recommend 4 Gauge.
